Thematic thought experiment: Icons of art history in selfie portraits if they were alive today. Their art had never existed and they worked the same way they used to. Would they be successful? Would galleries reject them? Would they have the same status in art history? Would they be on social media? In competition with the banal? Is self-portrayal more important than art or in defiance of refusal?
